Clean Seas Seafood amended its claim against feed supplier Gibson's -- trading as Skretting Australia --alleging it substituted a proportion of prime fishmeal required to be included in its feed with cheaper tuna byproduct meal.

The feed, supplied to Clean Seas' yellowtail kingfish between December 2008 and July 2012, changed the taurine content of the feed, alleges Clean Seas, and caused mortalities across its production, according to earlier claims filed in the Supreme Court of South Australia.

Clean Seas is claiming between AUD 34.5 million (€23.2 million/$25.7 million) to AUD 39.1 million (€26.3 million/$29.1 million) in damages from the supplier.

Gibson’s has until Sept. 13 to respond to the amended claim. The commencement of the trial has been deferred from Sept. 30 to Feb. 24, 2020.
