The founders of a so called "salmon ambulance service" that disposes of deceased fish after mass mortalities from production sites in Chile say they plan to expand the service after a successful first six months.

Tridente's service, which acts like an insurance policy, began in December under a joint venture between fishing firms Landes, Camanchaca and Blumar.

Under Chilean health regulations, mass mortalities must be reported to authorities immediately and the fish removed from production sites within hours.
