Chilean salmon producers still have lots of work to do to fully claw back business in the coveted Chinese market lost during the pandemic when Chinese consumers shunned seafood imports amid fears of COVID-19 contamination.

Part of that work includes a recently signed protocol with Chinese health authorities requiring all Chilean seafood companies to register by July 2 if they wish to export their fish to China.

Chilean salmon producers have been struggling to win back the Chinese market, lost after the discovery of COVID-19 on a chopping board used to cut salmon in a Beijing wholesale market in July 2020.
