Chile's Cultivos Marinos Lago Yelcho applied for the construction of five salmon farming sites in the BioBio region for a total value of CLP 9.1 billion (€11.8 million/$13.7 million), reports Diario Concepcion.

The company submitted its application to the Service of Environmental Evaluation (SEA), for the assessment of the environmental impact of the projects.

It plans to operate 16 cages, with an anual production of 35 metric tons in each of the centers.
