Chile’s National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca) ruled out recalculating the final toll of fish escaped from a Mowi’s fish farm in Punta Redonda in 2018, reports Biobio.

Following the massive escape, Mowi submitted a request to the Environmental Authority (SMA) to recount the number of recovered fish, which according to the company was 27 percent of the total escape, and according to Sernapesca was 5.5 percent.

According to the law, if a company does not manage to recover at least 10 percent of the fish after an escape, it faces the potential loss of farming concessions.
