The Chilean National Commission of Aquaculture will evaluate proposed amendments to the Stocking Percentage Reduction (PRS) program on Dec. 17.

If the commission approves the changes, which is expected, it will send the modified regulations to the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca), which will issue a formal resolution.

The proposed modifications to the PRS focus on fish mortality as the main biological performance indicator for salmon farmers, stating that salmon producers reporting a mortality of over 14 percent during a farming cycle will be forced to reduce stocking in the next cycle.
