Chilean smolt releases in May were down just under 40 percent compared to the same period last year, the Norwegian investment bank ABG Sundal Collier reported.

Releases for the month came to 10.4 million smolts, 25 percent below the analysts' estimated 13.8 million monthly average for the second quarter of the year. However, a strong first quarter means year-to-date releases are up 4 percent.
