Chile salmon firms hold diver safety summit after shocking death toll report

Member companies of the Chile Salmon Council recently met in Puerto Varas to discuss efforts to improve safety for divers working on salmon farms.

Over the past 20, years 44 divers have died working on Chilean salmon farms, IntraFish reported in September.

Representatives from AquaChile, Australis, Cermaq, Mowi and Salmones Aysen were joined in themeeting by Christian Caceres, deputy manager of regional operations Chilean Safety Association (ACHS), and Joanna Davidovich, executive director of the Chile Salmon Council, in one of her final acts before she steps down at the end of the month.
