Jose Miguel Burgos, director of Chile’s National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca) was asked to step down from his position by the Chilean Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca), it was announced Tuesday.

“I am satisfied with our progress, and none of this would have been possible without the support of the hundreds of officers working in this organization," he said in statement.

Burgos, who will step down April 20, was named director of Sernapesca in July 2014 after four years managing the aquaculture division of Subpesca.
