Chilean regulatory body Sernapesca has established a working group to review how the salmon industry is handling mortality management.

This comes as salmon farmer Salmones Antartica finds itself in hot water after the agency found excessively high mortalities in three of its centers in the Chonchi, Los Lagos region of southern Chile.

Sernapesca's deputy director of aquaculture Marcela Lara said the focus of inspection will take place throughout the entire process of managing fish mortalities.
