Bakkafrost on Wednesday announced it acquired 68.6 percent of The Scottish Salmon Company (SSC) from Northern Link Ltd., the Faroese company's first salmon farming acquisition outside of its home country.

Starting in 2022, Bakkafrost will supply feed to SSC, resulting in annual synergies of around DKK 70 million ($10.2 million/€9.4 million), the company said.

It's unclear who currently supplies SSC; a company spokesperson declined to answer which feed company it currently uses.

Feed giant Cargill Communications Manager Hanne Dankertsen also declined to say anything about the company's customers or capacity at its Scottish factory.
