The Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance (CAIA) trade body said it is committed to dialogue and a "responsible plan," following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's mandate to transition away from netpen farming in British Columbia (BC) by 2025.

CAIA Executive Director Tim Kennedy told IntraFish Trudeau's mandate issued Friday to the country's new Minister of Fisheries Bernadette Jordan, is softer than his initial campaign plan, which left out any indication of indigenous groups' participation in the transition and also categorically stated a switch to land-based production.
