Feed ingredients company Calysta is aiming to build multiple natural gas fermentation facilities for its trademarked Feedkind protein at sites around the world.

"The earliest one of those would come on is 2022 because its a two-year build," Calysta CEO Alan Shaw told IntraFish.

Calysta executives have set a long-term goal of producing one million metric tons of the fishmeal alternative over 10 years.

The company says it is in advanced negotiations with more than one partner that will facilitate the construction of "world-scale" plants.
