Chilean salmon producer Blumar said its processing operations are running normally again after a 24-hour general strike in the South American nation on Tuesday.

"We are operating normally," the company's Commercial Director Daniel Montoya told IntraFish.

Blumar decided to suspend processing at its plants for the safety and security of its workers on Tuesday following recent civil unrest.

The national day of action was marked by demonstrations, looting and sometimes violent protests aimed at pressuring the government of President Sebastian Pinera to deepen social reforms.
