Chilean salmon farmer Blumar is close to deciding on the construction of a $30 million (€27.1 million) hatchery in Magallanes, where it is currently building a processing plant in joint ownership with Multiexport.

The company stocked its first centers through its subsidiary BluRiver in Magallanes last year and plans to harvest the sites within months.

As part of its 2018-2020 plan in the region, Blumar has invested $160 million (€144.4 million), excluding the $30 million (€27.1 million) it would plow into the hatchery, Gerardo Balbontin, CEO of Blumar, told IntraFish.
