BioMar’s Brande, Denmark, feed plant expansion is still in the works, but the company has bigger plans for recirculated aquaculture system (RAS) feeds as the sector grows, the plant’s Managing Director Anders Brandt-Clausen told IntraFish.

The company invested $15 million (€13.2 million) last May to introduce a new line to the Brande plant in Denmark focused on producing juvenile feed for RAS. However, expansions won’t be complete until the end of fall, despite originally being planned for this summer.

“The Brande plant has been delivering fry feeds to all our sister companies around the world and we now need to take the next step in terms of quality and performance, which is why we are introducing a new extruder that makes smaller pellets,” Clausen said.
