Aquatic feed giant BioMar received certification to produce feed for organic shrimp at its Costa Rica plant.
“We are happy to be fully certified under all the EU standards to produce organic shrimp feed,” said John Tinsley, technical director of BioMar.
“As the industry develops, producers seek to differentiate in order to satisfy the increasing demands of consumers, and organic farming systems are a good opportunity.”
BioMar’s shrimp feed for organic production is called Ecolife Exia.
“This feed supports our strategy because it allows us to provide a product of high quality to the market, and at the same time to complement our shrimp feed range,” said Jorge Vargas, BioMar managing director in Costa Rica.
