Canada Fisheries Minister Joyce Murray has just over two months before she must decide the fate of 79 expiring netpen salmon farming licenses in British Columbia.

The minister hasn't said whether or not she will renew the licenses, which will determine the fate of the salmon farming industry's remaining 4,700 workers and CAD 1.2 billion (€847.6 million/$942.5 million) in economic activity generated by salmon farming in the province, according to the BC Salmon Farmers Association (BCSFA).

A furious last-minute lobbying blitz in underway to influence the minister's decision.
