Barramundi Group, previously known as Barramundi Asia, is planning to expand its Australian barramundi operation to a capacity of 30,000 metric tons, with a capital spend of around AUD 350 million (€232.5 million/$245.3million).

Through subsidiary Barramundi Group Australia (BGA), the trading name of Marine Produce Australia, the company expects the expansion to take 10 years and create 350-400 direct jobs on the remote West Kimberley Coast.

BGA has identified 13 marine sites for the expansion. It is also proposing to develop three land-based fish nurseries and a processing facility in the region.
