Salmon growing at Atlantic Sapphire’s Miami land-based operations reached the pre-smolt phase last week, the company said.

The fish was transferred from parr tanks to the pre-smolt department on Friday and was fed the same day.

This is the third stage of the production cycle following fry and parr, where the fish is grown from five to 15 grams. After the pre-smolt tanks, the fish will be moved to smolt tanks, and then to post-smolt tanks, where the fish is introduced to saltwater before being moved to the grow-out department.
