Atlantic Sapphire's US subsidiary was forced to implement an emergency harvest on July 28 at one of its land-based salmon growout systems in Miami, which was recently stocked "without being fully commissioned."
The Oslo-listed land-based salmon farmer harvested close to 200,000 fish. Of this, around 150 metric tons will be sent for processing and sale.
Atlantic Sapphire said disruptive construction work nearby, including loud sounds and severe vibrations, stressed the fish and caused an unspecified number of salmon mortalities.
"All the fish will not be sold since the permanent emergency harvesting facility has not been completed yet," said the company.
