Atlantic Sapphire missed its first quarter harvesting target, underlining the struggles the land-based salmon farmer continues to face at its Miami land-based salmon farming facility.

The company harvested 850 metric tons from January to March, having earlier forecasted a 1,000-metric-ton harvest for both the first and second quarters of this year, leaving a 150-metric-ton shortfall.

"We don't expect to catch that up, Atlantic Sapphire CEO Johan Andreassen told analysts during a monthly update call on Wednesday.

Executives expect the site to produce 7,000 metric tons of fish in 2022.
