The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) has released a whitepaper that will help the group bolster its current farm-waste management indicators with specific requirements governing the proper disposal of plastics and aquaculture gear by fish farmers.

A primary motivator for the whitepaper is to find scientific evidence to be considered in future ASC standards, ASC spokesperson Jack Cutforth told IntraFish.
"The new indicators will cover both minimizing the amount of plastic used, as well as proper disposal of plastics.
