Israeli recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) equipment supplier AquaMaof Aquaculture Technologies has formed a joint venture in Chile to build a 900 metric-ton land-based yellowtail kingfish farm in the Coquimbo Region.

With an initial investment of $25 million (€22.1 million), the Atacama Yellowtail (AYT) project will be located in Tongoy Bay and produce 900 metric tons per year in its first stage, and an estimated 1,800 metric tons per year in its second phase.

AYT is a joint venture between private investment fund Best Potential (supported by governmental organization CORFO), FDU, Inno-Sea, AquaMaof and Aleta.
