Israeli recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) equipment supplier AquaMaof Aquaculture Technologies has signed a contract with Swedish Smogenlax Aquaculture to construct a RAS salmon facility as part of a circular economy industrial park called Renhav, near Kungshamn/Smogen on the west coast of Sweden.

The facility will be built in two phases. In the first phase, which is currently underway, AquaMaof will construct a 2,000-metric-ton, egg-to-harvest facility, with plans for a 6,000-metric-ton capacity facility in the next phase.

The company plans large-scale production at the land-based beginning in 2022.
