French trout producer and smoker Aqualande said it will open expanded production facilities at its Sarbazan site in southwest France in October.

Under the plans, production will increase by more than 60 percent to 6,500 metric tons a year from the previous 4,000 metric tons, creating 280 jobs by 2020.

Aqualande has invested €12 million ($14.7 million) into the expansion of its production, processing and smoking operations.

The expansion is underpinned by French market demand and the company's acquisition of Piszolla, Spain's No.
