While disease is the still the biggest issue affecting the world's shrimp farmers, the varying levels of technology throughout the sector should be addressed to help the industry grow, according to a new report from aquaculture technology investment firm Hatch.

The study, backed by a grant from the Walton Family Foundation, reviewed data from 96 farms in the biggest producing countries in the world.

"We're interested in stimulating more people into this industry," Hatch Head of Marketing and Communications Moritz Mueller told IntraFish.
