Irish start-up biotech company MicroSynbiotiX is pushing for more product development and challenge trials after raising up $1.2 million (€1 million) and the funding round was led by Alimentos Ventures, SOSV, RebelBio and Enterprise Ireland, according to Huffington Post.

Simon Jegan Porphy and Antonio Lamb founded the company last year to find an innovative approach to “reduce or eliminate the use of antibiotics, reduce fish mortality rates in aquaculture farms, prevent bacterial and viral diseases from wiping out entire fish stocks, and improve global food security,” said Porphy, according to the news site.
