Chilean salmon company AquaChile is seeking approval for a $12 million (€10.9 million) hatchery upgrade in Los Lagos.

The upgrade would allow the company to produce 3,600 metric tons of salmon smolt a year of an average size of 300 grams.

The company plans to build tanks with a capacity of 310 cubic meters with individual recirculated aquaculture systems (RAS).

It submitted details about the upgraded facilities’ environmental impact and is pending approval.
