GM salmon producer AquaBounty said Tuesday it completed the closure of its salmon farm in Panama.

Following a decsion by the FDA to lift the Import Alert on AquAdvantage Salmon, AquaBounty can now stock and produce the fish at its US land-based farm site in Indiana.

The Panama site was originally set up in 2008 as a demonstration grow-out location for AquAdvantage GM salmon, in conjunction with the company’s New Animal Drug Application with the FDA.

The company also announced it promoted Mark Walton to the position of vice president of research and regulatory affairs following the retirement of Ronald Stotish.
