Investment fund Aqua-Spark said Monday it will invest in Proteon and Cryoocyte, technologies designed to improve the health of farmed fish and make the aquaculture process more efficient by eliminating antibiotics, reducing feed and enabling farms to safeguard broodstock.

"Proteon is transforming bacteriophages, or phages, found in nature into commercial-grade products that target bacterial infections in a way that doesn’t create resistance," said the company.

Proteon's main product on the market is a solution against Pseudomonas and Aeromonas infections in fish.
