Danish feed company Aller Aqua has been granted DKK15.9 million($2.4 million/€2.1 million) from the Ministry of Environment and Food Denmark to develop and test insect-based feed products suitable for trout farming.
Should tests prove successful, insect meal could also be tested as an ingredient for feed for salmon and tilapia.
Aller Aqua is partnering with DTU Aqua, The Danish Technological Institute, Hanneman Engineering, Champost and Enorm Biofactory to establish Denmark’s first industrial insect production.
