Deep in a western Norwegian fjord, Norway's largest land-based fish farm is being planned.

The venture could ultimately produce 40,000 metric tons of salmon, as much as a medium-sized Norwegian net-pen operation, requiring investments of up to NOK 2 billion (€195 million/$236 million) in the first construction phase according to Lars Erik Baustad, chairman of the board of Ecofisk, the company behind the plans.
