Aquaculture technology supplier Akva has been awarded a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) contract from Canadian farming giant Cooke Aquaculture for a post-smolt facility.

The contract, worth around €14.3 million ($14.4 million), is with Cooke subsidiary Kelly Cove Salmon, with design work slated to start in August and commissioning in the fourth quarter of 2024.

In January last year, it was reported that Cooke was investing $58.6 million (€48.2 million) in a post-smolt salmon hatchery in Digby Neck, Nova Scotia, to produce three million fish per year and supply the group's 13 fish farm sites in the area.
