Aquaculture equipment supplier Akva Group has signed a contract to construct several land-based fish farms in three Middle Eastern countries -- Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Norwegian-owned Vikings Label previously mentioned its potential to produce 5,000 metric tons of salmon at the outset to serve the lucrative Saudi market, with plans for additional expansion, CEO Lukas Havn told IntraFish.
"Salmon is stage-one but we're going into more local species instead of expanding the salmon production," Havn said.
