Atlantis Subsea Farming (ASF), a joint-venture between Akva group and SinkabergHansen, transferred the first fish to its the submersible farming cage almost a year after receiving a development license for the concept.

The new salmon farming project is now entering a new phase under which it'll monitor the fish behavior and health in the newly certified submersible cage.

Akva Group holds a 66.6 percent stake in the joint-venture, while SinkabergHansen owns the remaining 33.3 percent of the company.

Work on the submerged facility -- where most of production process takes place underwater and part of it on the surface -- took off in 2014.
