Global aquafeed giant Cargill said it could start commercial production feed utilizing insect protein as early as next year.
“We have been collaborating with Leroy on trialing insect protein in commercial feed already,” Helene Ziv, director of risk management and sourcing for Cargill’s animal nutrition business, told IntraFish.
Cargill and InnovaFeed last week said they are partnering to market fish feed that includes insect protein, in an effort to support the growth of sustainable aquaculture. It follows a year of trials with the companies working together.
