The Waren, Germany-based INAPRO demonstration site just processed and sold its first batch of catfish and tomatoes after production started May and June 2016, respectively, said the company Wednesday.
The 573-square-meter aquaponics facility finished construction last year to show the feasibility of producing sustainable food with low environmental impact.
Müritzfischer, the largest freshwater fishing company in Germany, manages the site and processes the fish into frozen, smoked and pickled fish.
