Cooke Inc. subsidiary Bioriginal received approval from Canadian regulators to produce three sanitizing products it plans on distributing to health authorities and retailers in the coming weeks.
Joe Vidal, president of Bioriginal Food & Science Corp., said his team "moved heaven and earth" to develop the products and gain approval.
The company's manufacturing plant in Saskatoon, Canada, was retrofitted with ventilated processing areas, a new conveyor system, pneumatic fillers and explosion-proof packaging.
Bioriginal staff were trained on new safety protocols, including procedures on safe handling of flammable liquids.
Bioriginal, which Cooke acquired in 2017 as part of the purchase of Omega Protein, has facilities in Canada, the United States, and the Netherlands.
