If the shrimp industry is to look anywhere for a possible future model, it might want to study the industrialized poultry sector, according to Melony Sellars, scientist and CEO of shrimp health and breeding company Genics.
"I think there's a lot to be gained from going outside of your box and looking at other industries," she told IntraFish.
What the poultry industry could offer shrimp in terms of learnings and systems is an ultra-controlled model of production with an exact formulation on inputs, outputs and expectations.
