Global salmon giant Mowi on Tuesday released anticipated losses from a warm weather-related die-off at an Eastern Canada farming site, estimating that a total of 450,000 close to market-sized fish would ultimately be lost in the incident -- around half the total fish at the site.

Mowi first reported losses on Sept. 11, which occurred at a site on the south coast of Newfoundland and Labrador known as The Gorge.

At the time, Mowi estimated 92,700 salmon died in the incident out of a total 900,000 fish at the site, passing the reporting the provincial reporting threshold, but was unsure what the ultimate tally would be.*
