Norwegian aquaculture and fishing giant Leroy Seafood Group saw its harvest volumes for both salmonids and whitefish climb in the fourth quarter of 2021.
The group harvested salmon and trout volumes of 51,300 metric tons during the period, up 6 percent on the year prior, while whitefish volumes amounted to 17,100 metric tons, up 36 percent.
Trout volumes accounted for 8,000 metric tons of the total, an increase of 11 percent on the same period in 2020.
In the aquaculture division, the group harvested 14,100 metric tons from its Leroy Aurora location in the quarter; 18,300 metric tons from Leroy Midt; and 18,900 metric tons from Leroy Sjotroll.
Leroy caught a total volume of 17,100 metric tons of whitefish in the quarter, an increase of 36 percent over the same period in 2020. Cod accounted for 8,800 metric tons of this, up 26 percent year-on-year.
For the whole of 2021, Leroy said its harvest volumes of salmon and trout amounted to 186,600 metric tons – up 9 percent – of which trout made up 25,100 metric tons.
For its wild whitefish catch, total 2021 volumes were 71,500 – up 4.5 percent – with cod accounting for 26,600 metric tons, an increase of 13 percent on 2020.
Leroy said its complete Q4 report will be released on Feb. 17.
