US-based wild salmon processor Ocean Beauty Seafoods closed its fish processing plant in Excursion Inlet, Alaska, last week due to a lack of fish, reports KHNS.

The southeastern Alaska plant was seeing more activity due to a lack of freezing capacity at the company's Petersburg cannery, which Ocean Beauty decided to close permanently earlier this year.

However, Mike Forbush, senior Alaska operations manager at Ocean Beauty, said low landings in the Southeast gave the company no choice but to close early.
