Norway-based Leroy Seafood will upgrade two Norway factories in the Nordland region at a cost of more than NOK 100 million ($12.3 million/€10.4 million).

Production in its plant in Stamsund in Lofoten will be reorganized to get a better market-adapted product mix, including moving whitefish production into more value-added formats.

"Our goal is that the investment will deliver better results and more stable full-year jobs, "said Webjørn Barstad, vice president of whitefish for Leroy Seafood Group.

In addition to fillets, items like fish cakes, fish pudding and fish balls will be produced, Barstad said.
