The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) refused entry to 26 shrimp lines from India due to banned antibiotics usage in the first month of 2019.

January’s count represents the highest total number of shrimp entry lines refused for presence of banned antibiotics since August 2016, when the FDA refused 35 shrimp entry lines for antibiotics, of which 24 were from India.

These 26 shrimp lines constitute nearly 15 percent of the 175 total seafood entry lines refused in January 2019.
