Fall River, Massachusetts-based, Raw Seafoods is the new supplier to Whole Foods' North Atlantic region stores, Raw Seafoods' Vice President and Co-owner Scott Hutchens confirmed to IntraFish.

The company gained the business following an announcement this week by Amazon-owned Whole Foods that it is closing its Pigeon Cove processing plant in Gloucester, Massachusetts, which has been supplying Whole Food stores in the North Atlantic states of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Whole Foods announced in a June 14 letter to Gloucester's mayor that it is closing its Pigeon Cove facility and laying off 59 workers in August.
