Danish ferry operator DFDS acquired Grimsby-based fish distribution service Colley Brothers as it looks to expand its UK seafood businesses.

To outsiders the deal may seem something of a surprise, but the company is already heavily engaged in the fish logistics sector with warehouses in Scotland and England.

Colley Brothers currently employs around 50 people, a figure the Danish company is keen to increase as the business grows.

"For now we are consolidating it into DFDS and then we hope we can extend business too, of course," a DFDS spokesperson told IntraFish.

Colley Brothers could not be reached at the time of writing for comment.
