This week Norwegian salmon prices hit historical high levels with prices surpassing NOK 80 (€8.40/$9.90) per kilo across the weight classes – but this situation is not sustainable and unlikely to last for long, analysts covering the sector told IntraFish.

Christian Olsen Nordby, an analyst at Kepler Cheuvreux, told IntraFish the current prices are “not sustainable at all and are way too high”, and there are several reasons for the record levels.

The most important, though, is to look at the factors impacting both the supply and demand.
