Nasdaq: salmon prices nudge up in week 42

Prices were down 3% from the previous month.

Norwegian farmed salmon prices were up by NOK 0.22 (€0.02/$0.03) per kilo in week 42, which was less than one percent higher than they were the week prior, according to the latest figures from Nasdaq.

The average price for salmon during the week was lower from a month ago at NOK 56.55 (€5.93/$6.81) per kilo, down NOK 1.47 (€0.15/$0.18) per kilo, or 3 percent lower. Average prices were however up 6 percent from 12 weeks ago.

Prices were also up among major weight classes in week 42.

The size category of 4 to 5 kg took up the largest part of the market with a share of 36 percent. Here prices were up NOK 0.51 (€0.05/$0.06 ) per kilo on average to hit NOK 56.65 (€5.95/$6.83).

The second most popular size category of 3 to 4 kg had a market share of 24 percent, and here though up slightly, prices were relatively unchanged from the previous week.
