Sande Aqua, the company building a NOK 6 billion (€544 million/$638 million) land-based salmon facility, announced several new hires as the ambitious project takes shape.
The company named former Sparebanken Sogn and Fjordane bank manager Ingar Valvik as CFO, Svein Skorpen as controller and head of administration, and Trond Ove Hoie as project director.
"The organization is now starting to come into place," said Sande Aqua General Manager Peder Bruce.
Sande Aqua has a license to produce 33,000 metric tons of fish at the facility planned for Skipavika Business Park in Norway. However, the farm can be expanded to 66,000 metric tons.
Recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) supplier Billund Aquaculture inked a design agreement with the farm after five years of discussions.
The land-based salmon farmer plans to hire more employees in the coming months, especially in the areas of biology and fish welfare.
Construction is expected to begin towards the end of 2021. Prior to that, the firm is planning two rounds of capital raising.
